If you have been vaping for a while, then you probably already know that pack-a-day smokers spend over $1,000 per year on cigarettes. You also know that using a vape is a cheaper and healthier way to subdue nicotine cravings. If you've been vaping longer than the average person, you might venture into the wild world of making your own homemade juice. Since there is a bit of a learning curve to making great DIY e juice, it's pretty normal to not get the results you want when first starting out. As you seek to perfect your new craft, here are some common mistakes new homemade juice makers make.
  1. Too Much Flavor
It is definitely counter-intuitive, but certainly true: putting too much vape flavor concentrates into your DIY e liquid can completely kill the flavor. This is because the flavors work against each other and create an overpowering and often unpleasant flavor. Use less concentrated flavor; roughly 15% (don't go over 25%) is right for most brands.
  3. Too Much PG
Many people are sensitive to propylene glycol. If you have a juice with a lot of PG in it and you feel like it's harsh, try using primarily vegetable glycerine instead. This provides a smoother vape.
  5. Storage Problems
Make sure to stock up on empty 30ml and 60ml bottles. You might not anticipate how much juice you'll make, but it is fairly common to have four or five in rotation at the same time.
  7. Steeping
This is one of the biggest mistakes people make. An unsteeped juice can taste harsh, poorly mixed, and altogether less flavorful. There are two main methods for steeping your juice. The first is simply setting it down in a cool dark place and waiting. You can wait anywhere from a week to a month depending on how much patience you have. The other method involves a bowl of warm water and a bottle of freshly made e liquid. Put the bottle in warm water and wait until it isn't warm. Voila! Your homemade juice is now steeped.

If you are struggling to get the flavor right in your homemade e juice, pay attention to your measurements and have patience. And relax, practice makes perfect. Besides, you're saving so much money by making your own juice that if you don't like what you just made, you can try again.
